Wakakirri 2022
Wakakirri 2022
Hi families,
Thank you so much for your support of Wakakirri this year. It has been a monumental effort from all involved, and I know that the kids really appreciate it. The opportunity to perform at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre is rare, and the skills and experiences they have gained will stay with them for the rest of their lives.
I am incredibly proud of our 2022 Wakakirri team, all 81 of them!
Thank you to those who helped in some way in the lead up or on the night, and to those of you who have sent emails, messages, or offered kind words in person.
On the night we won 2 awards, best individual hair and makeup, and Spirit of Wakakirri.
Last week we received the panelist’s comments and award listings for the SA performances. The national results will not be available until all states/territories have had their performances. We are expecting them on the 17th of October.
''A thrilling display of fun through the ooky and spooky brought to life with strong production elements and stagecraft.'' by Amanda Phillips & Alix Kuijpers (panel)
In addition to the awards we received on the night we have won the following performance and production awards:
- Excellent ensemble
- Best direction: Combination of dancing and acting
- Excellent group dance
- Amazing finale
- Best direction: Choreography
We have also been nominated for the National Festival Award: Entertainment Story Award Story Award!
What an incredible result.
Next year we will have a break from Wakakirri and return to the Primary Schools Festival of Music. The choir will be open to any year 5s and 6s that would like to join.
Thank you again for supporting the Performing Arts at Westbourne Park.
Kind regards,
Anj Habel-Orrell - Performing Arts
